Building on a Budget

Do you ever feel like you just need to have more money available to throw at your business to get the kind of results you want?

Well, if so, pay close attention to what I have below, because I’m going to show you how you can free yourself from the chains of a limited budget, and produce at least 20-50 FREE leads per day for your business…

Now there first thing you need to know is that there are two kinds of equity you can use to achieve your business goals…

The most obvious and convenient is cash. Money allows you to “buy” a desired result.

Need leads fast? Great… Just pay for an Adwords campaign and you’re in business. Things are easy when you have money to throw at a solution.

That’s probably why most people see a lack of money as the source of their problems… They can’t get the result they want because they can’t afford to pay for it.

It becomes their excuse. “I can’t afford auto-ship any more… I can’t afford to buy leads anymore… I’ll never be able to compete against the big guys… So I’ll just quit.”

Believe it or not, you’re not at a disadvantage if you’re building on a budget. It only becomes a problem when you try to pursue your business in the same manner as someone who ISN’T on a budget.

You can’t do that.  But when you see it as the only possibility, it creates that horrendous feeling of frustration that keeps you up at night and makes you sick to your stomach.

And here’s what you should learn…

A lack of money isn’t a deal-breaker. It just requires that you take a different approach, and cash-in a different kind of equity… Your creativity.

Thankfully, the internet has provided a world-wide platform that each of us can use to express our creativity, and do it for free in most cases.

In fact, it’s easier to get tons of free traffic today, than it was just two years ago thanks to sites like Wordpress, YouTube, BetterNetworker, Squidoo, MySpace, And FaceBook.

And here’s something else to think about…

If you want to compound your personal results exponentially for free, have everyone on your team use these strategies as well.

As a group, they’ll create a tidal-wave of traffic for themselves that you can leverage to boost your own business, (because they’re in your downline remember!)

Free your mind of any limiting thoughts you have about yourself, your abilities, or your financial status.

If you continue to have a poverty mindset about your income level and your budget, you’ll continue to find yourself in that same state.

Everything you need is already in you. Now it’s just a matter of learning the skills you need in order to express your talents to the world.

Start thinking of the number $10,000.

Think about it constantly. Dozens of times per day. Post it on your mirror and use it as the background on your computer desktop.

$10,000 stands for the $10,000 per month in advertising that you’re going to spend each month on your business at some point soon in the future. (Not from credit cards, but in cash that’s produced from your business revenues!)

I know that’s a big number for many of you, and it might seem impossible, but it’s because it feels uncomfortable and impossible that you’re not achieving it.

The more you think about that number, the more comfortable it will become to you. This is going to program your sub-conscious mind to make $10,000/mo the “norm”, in your life.

Pretty soon, you’ll start to feel extremely uncomfortable that you’re not spending $10,000 per month on your business and it’s at that moment, that your life will begin to change.

This new discomfort will drive you to achieve that goal and you won’t stop until you have the ability to spend $10,000 per month on your business because that’s where your comfort zone has been moved to.

It’s 100% true… You don’t have to spend big bucks to get big traffic any more.

Now if you’d like to learn how to implement these low-cost marketing strategies, there are some great resources out there, and a few months ago, I found a course called “Building On A Budget“, which shows you (in step-by-step detail), how to master the top 5 free traffic strategies online.

Obviously, if you’re trying to build your business on a budget, I highly recommend that you pick up a copy of the course and check it out.

The strategies are so effective that it’s guaranteed you’ll be producing 20-50 free leads per day within weeks. If you don’t, you have a full 12 months to send the course back for a 100%, no questions asked refund.

You produce the leads you want, or you don’t pay. It’s that simple.

Tips About Speaking With Friends And People You Know

It’s surprising how many Network Marketers and Direct Sales People are reluctant to talk with friends and family about their business.

I guess it’s understandable in many ways because they are reluctant to run the risk of alienating those close to them.

If this happens to you, it does mean you’re missing out on a source of high quality business partners and customers.

Perhaps even worse, they might need what you have to offer and they’re missing out because you haven’t spoken with them about it.

So, what’s the solution so that everyone wins?  Here are some suggestions.

Firstly, always keep in mind that your purpose is to help other people solve their problems.  When you’re talking with friends, or anyone come to that, all you’re looking to do is to discover if they have the types of problems you can help them solve.  That’s all.

Next, before approaching a friend, take some time to prepare yourself. Think about everything you know about them. Write down everything you can about their family, their hobbies, their sports, their jobs, their relationships, and especially their likes, dislikes, passions, and so on.

Write down all the problems you might have heard them talk about, that your business opportunity might be able to solve. Things like health problems or tight finances, and think, if you can, how it’s affecting them.

These are the things you can explore further when you next speak with them.

Now, when you do speak with someone keep in mind the following…

  * Respect the relationship that is already there. What’s more
important? Your friendship or wanting them as a business
  partner?

  * Explore their previously expressed problems or see if they do
have the types of problems you can help them solve without
  necessarily talking about your solutions.

  * Let go from talking about your business opportunity. Your
first aim at this stage is to simply discover if you might be
able to   be of help.  If in the course of your conversation it
becomes clear your friend or family member might has an
interest in changing their present situation, then you can
offer your solution there and then or continue the dialogue at
  another time.

If you adopt this approach, you won’t run the risk of upsetting people and you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how many people will be open to listening to you.

Why and how to Test your Advertising

There are a ton of gurus, books, courses, seminars, coaching programs etc., all of them claiming to make you a genius, to reveal the Hidden Secrets of the Marketing Universe.

A few of them are genuinely good.

But I’m not going to promote any of them today.
Instead I’m going to quite an old saying:

“You can’t learn to ride a bicycle at a seminar.”

It really doesn’t matter what aspect of life we’re talking about, there’s an enormous difference between learning from a guru and actually doing it yourself. The bottom-line truth about really talented marketers comes down to one word.

Just one.

That word is: TESTING.

If you don’t test - if you don’t develop an idea, run it up the flagpole and see who salutes, with hard numbers and percentages - you really don’t know anything.

If you DO test - then you know what you know.
And nobody can argue with you. That’s all there is to it.

Does long copy work or is short copy better? Should I have a sales letter website or a traditional one?
Should I price this at $500 or $1000? Should I use a soft-sell approach or is hard-sell better?

The answer to every question is: test and find out.

You can quickly become obsessed with Google AdWords for that very reason: you can test things with such speedy precision. Split test two ads and measure the response to a tenth of a percent. Split test two landing pages on your website and see which one gets more orders or leads. Turn the test on, and turn it off - instantly.

You won’t know until you test.

Creating A Landing Page

Today, let’s talk about creating a landing page.  It’s also called by other names, such as:  Squeeze Page, Capture Page, etc.  There are many options that can be used when creating your landing page.  I’ll talk about a few of the basics that really should be used.

Here’s a short list of things to consider:

  • Screen Size:  You want your landing page to be enticing and eye-catching, so it shouldn’t be too big.  The idea is to have it the right size so that it can be viewed on screen without having to scroll.  You want to make it as easy as possible for the visitor to your site to see your message.  So, a good suggested size would be 700 x 700 pixels.
  • Heading:  A heading should be a short and precise sentence.  It should catch the attention of the reader by explaining your offer and how it will benefit them.  Something like: “A Realistic $250K First-Year Income Potential” would work.  The heading should be large, but not too large.  Here’s a good suggestion of the size, font and color.  Try 18 point, Tahoma in a red or blue color.
  • Pre Headline:  The pre headline is put above and to the left of the heading.  It should be a smaller font than the Heading and should be in bold.
  • Number of Words:  The number of words used in a landing page is important.  Again, you don’t want the page to be too long.  Keep the body of your landing page to 200 or less (not counting the heading).  You don’t want visitors to get bored and leave without opting-in and providing their information.  Of course, make sure that the grammar and spelling are correct.  There’s probably nothing that turns of prospects than bad grammar and misspelled words.
  • Sub Headline:  The sub headline is obviously below the heading.  It can be right under it or under the body.  It can be something as simple as: “Read This Page”, or “Entrepreneurs Wanted”.
  • Information Gathering Fields:  At the bottom of the landing page, you’ll need some fields that gather personal information from the visitor.  The number of fields should be less than five.  The options are numerous.  The first thing that is needed is their name and a way to contact them.  I prefer getting just their first name and their e-mail address.  That’s less intrusive and more likely to get a response.
  • Submit Button:  You need a button that, when clicked, will give them access to a web site with more information and send their information to your auto-responder to automatically send them a pre-planned, informative set of e-mails explaining your product or opportunity.  Above, or below, the button you can add “Show Me How”, Free Instant Access” if you think it will help to get a visitor to submit their information.

The important thing to remember is to make your landing page simple, eye-catching and straight forward.  Make sure it’s honest.  In other words, don’t claim anything that is exaggerated or untrue.

Here’s my landing page to look at.

Do Your Research

If you’ve ever thought about spending a lot of money on having someone else find your leads and show you what to do with them, consider this example.  This is an email I received from an acquaintance of mine.

“Dave, I just had a call tonight from someone wanting to sell me leads, train me to talk to leads, etc. They want $5,000 up front.

They say I’m wasting time and money trying to learn it all myself. I am new to this business and have learned a great deal so far in the two months since I have entered into this, but still have not had a single person join my business.”  - Bruce.

Well Bruce, I’m not sure whom you spoke to, but I’ll say this…

They’ve got guts.

Let me share some thoughts that will ensure you aren’t taken to the cleaners by this person for five grand.

There are really two sides to this coin, and it all comes down to who this person is, and what they’ve done.

They’re right about “doing it on your own…” It can’t be done, and purchasing training courses is the BEST way there is to get the results you want fast, and for the least amount of money in the long run.

Is their training worth $5,000? Well that depends…

You need to know who this person is…

  • Have they built a list of at least 10,000 subscribers?
  • Have they made at least $20,000 a month?
  • Have they sponsored at least 10 reps in a month?
  • Do they have relationships and a reputation with other leaders in the industry?
  • What comes up when you do a search for them on Google?
  • Can they show you what they’ve done with their online marketing skills?

And finally, is there factual evidence for their claims, or are they making all of their money selling $5,000 coaching programs?

Once you’ve found someone that’s actually “been there, and done that”, I’m sure you’ll learn something great for your $5,000.

But before you hand over that kind of money, make sure you’re getting biggest bang for your buck.

Doesn’t this email make sense?  Do your research before spending your hard earned money on any sort of training or service that is being offered.

If you want to research a great opportunity, take a look at my lead capture page.

MLM/Network Marketing Evaluation Tool

Have you ever wondered if there was a step-by-step process for evaluating an MLM/Network Marketing company to determine if it’s a recruiting MLM, or exploitive chain selling program (or in other words - a “pyramid scheme”)?  Well, I have exactly what you’re looking for. This is a 5-step program that you can use to evaluate an MLM/network Marketing program – or any other type of chain selling programs

  • #1: Participants are recruited in an endless chain of participants.

Would you, as a new recruit, be permitted and even encouraged to recruit other participants, who would in turn be encouraged to recruit others, and they still more, etc. – from whom you could collect commissions and/or bonuses on what they buy or sell?

  • #2:  Advancement in the scheme is by recruitment, rather than by appointment.

Is advancement in a hierarchy of multiple levels of participants achieved by recruitment and/or by a combination of recruitment and sales volume, rather than by appointment, as in other work or sales settings?

  • #3: Participants are expected to buy (or subscribe to) products or services in order to qualify for commissions or bonuses or to advance in the scheme.

Are you being encouraged to make initial or ongoing purchases in order to take advantage of the “business opportunity,” and later to continue qualifying for advancement in (or payout in overrides and bonuses from) the MLM company?
– or –
Even though there is little or no cost to “sign up” for the program, are there minimum volume requirements that must be met in order to advance to higher levels in the hierarchy or to receive greater commissions or bonuses at some level?
 –or –
Are you expected to pay for training seminars, workshops, audio or video programs, weekend retreats, etc. in order to stay in the good graces of your up-line?

  • #4: The company pays commissions and bonuses on more than four levels of participants.

Does the company pay overrides (commissions and bonuses) to distributors in a hierarchy of more than four levels?

  • #5: Company payout per sale for the total of all up-line participants exceeds that for the person actually selling the product.

Would the total amount of commissions (or discounts, bonuses, etc.) paid by the company to the entire up-line of a participant receive more than he/she would receive for actually making the sale?

Evaluation

If you find all five (or even four) of these red flags in a compensation plan, then the MLM program could be considered a recruiting MLM, or exploitive chain selling program (translation in many jurisdictions – “pyramid scheme”) in concept, structure, and effects. This would be true regardless of quality of products offered, type of compensation plan, company policy regarding recruiting, or any other efforts of company officials to make its program appear to be legitimate. The primary emphasis is on deriving income from recruitment, with insufficient incentives to retail products or services.

Regardless of what label is placed on the program – chain or  pyramid selling program, “direct selling,” “consumer direct selling,” network or multi-level marketing (MLM), etc. –  when these 5 Red Flags have been found in a program, over 99% of participants lose money - even as high as 99.9%. You can do better gambling in Las Vegas.

So – what was the outcome of your analysis of the MLM program you are considering? If you found at least 4 of the “5 Red Flags,” you may want to reconsider your decision.

(This information was provided by Dr. Jon Taylor, MBA, PHD)

If you’re interested in a company that only has two of these flags, take a look at my lead capture page.
